Obituary
Donald R. Evans, Sr., 77, of Metropolis, IL, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, 10:23 am, at his residence.
Donald was a member of Mt. Horeb Church in Metropolis where he sang in the Male Chorus. He retired from the maintenance department at Honeywell of Metropolis. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.
Donald is survived by a son, Timothy Whaley of Dothan, AL; three daughters, Eartha Davison of Paducah, Liz "Dootsie" Carruthers of Metropolis, IL, and Shamara Kizer of Kenasaw, GA;
15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his son, Donald Ray Evans, Jr., his parents, Lawrence Renfro and Opal Evans Morris, and a brother, Robert Morris.
Funeral Service will be Friday, March 7, 2014, 12:00 Noon at Mt. Horeb Church in Metropolis, Illinois with Reverend Joseph Benberry and Reverend C.B. Akins, Sr. officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.
Friends called at the church on Friday from 10:30 am until the funeral hour.
