David Leotha Shannon, 71, of Brookport, IL, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, 5:10 pm, at his residence.

He was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Brookport and was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the United States Army.

He was a graduate of Brookport High School and the Bell and Howell Electronic School where he was certified as an electronic technician. David was owner and operator of Shannon's TV Repair for over 30 years. He was formerly employed in maintenance at Union Carbide of Paducah, Allied Chemicals of Metropolis, IL, and EEI of Joppa, IL.

He is survived by three sons, David L. Shannon of Paducah, David Gardner of Lexington, KY, and Davarr Shannon of Brookport, IL; five daughters, Paula Hutchings of Suisun, CA, Shawnda Brown of Memphis, TN, La'Cretia Greene of Paducah, Shanice Holland of Corinth, MS, and Dejah Shannon of Atlanta, GA; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Lanfort Shannon of Brookport; three sisters, Marie Jones of Racine, WI, Sue Strong of Paducah and Gloria Ann Shannon of Brookport, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Revie Shannon and Susie Hamilton Shannon, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 27, 2015, 2:00 pm, at Washington Street Missionary Baptist Church of Paducah. Reverend Raynarldo Henderson and William D. Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Brookport with military rites.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
