IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dale (A.K.A.
Odie Topp) Mcdermott
May 21, 1954 – February 17, 2023
God blesses families with new life each and every day. On May 21, 1954, George McDermott and Betty Mae Jackson Topp received their blessing of a new baby boy. They lovingly named him Dale E. McDermott. He was nurtured with tender care and grew into adulthood. On his 68 th year, 8 th month and 27 th day here on earth, Dale answered the call of his Heavenly Father at 8:03 p.m. at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center of Paducah, KY. From there he moved into his brand-new Heavenly Home to live in immortality.
Dale was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and received certification in Carpentry from West Kentucky Technical School. He was well-known in the community for his ability to be able to fix just about anything set before him. Understanding the need for a personal Savior in his life, Dale was a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Paducah.
Dale loved his family dearly; however, his daughters and grandchildren were especially showered with his love and devotion. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with family at cookouts and barbecuing his famous ribs and all the trimmings. He was a great Philadelphia Eagles football fan, loved hanging out with his friends, and helping all people who needed assistance. He especially enjoyed collecting coins and other collectibles. When talking about his "collectibles", he would tell everybody that whatever was seen was "FOR SALE". The one thing about this statement was that he never really sold anything.
Dale was a loving, caring, and giving individual. His kindness, that was given to all for over 20 years, led to him being honored with the "Community Service Award" for 2023.
Dale is survived by His Children , Trevia McPherson of Murfreesboro, TN, TaSonya Smith of Louisville, KY and Aysha Robinson of Evansville, IN; Bonus Children , Felicia Davis of Fayetteville, NC and LaShawn Edmonds of Paducah, KY; His Lifelong Partner , Lynette Edmonds of Paducah, KY; His Siblings , Gary (Carolyn) Jackson, Brenda Topp, Dreamer Topp, Reverend James (Alicia) Topp, all of Paducah, KY, Alvin McDermott of Murfreesboro, TN and Connie McDermott of Etowah, TN; Grandchildren , Elijah Smith of Louisville, KY, MaKenzie Robinson of Evansville, IN, Jaidann Perkins of Murfreesboro, TN, Shatavia Smith, DeAndre Edmonds and Kerone Edmonds, all of Fayetteville, NC; DeRay Edmonds and DuJuan Edmonds, both of Paducah, KY; Great-Grandchildren , Sa'Ryah Edmonds of Paducah, KY and Roman Edmonds of Fayetteville, NC; His Aunt , Frances Topp; His Uncle , Paul McDermott; A Host of Nieces , Nephews , Cousins and Special Friends including Chris Shelton, Bobo Travis, Teddy Shelby, Don Holt, Jr., Kevin Kirby, Steve Shelby, and Maurice Shelby.
