Curtis C. "Trey" Newbern III, 33, Concord, N.C., formerly of Paducah, KY., passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Carolinas Medical Center of Concord, N.C.

Curtis attended Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Calloway County High School and attended Paducah Community College and Central-Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C. Curtis was employed as a manager with Reebok and Rockport Industries in Charlotte, N.C., and was formerly employed by Dillard's of Paducah.

Curtis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Doris Dodd, Curtis C. Newbern Sr., Maggie Newbern, an aunt, Linda Wilson and an uncle, Ozean Dodd.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy D. Newbern, Concord, N.C., father, Curtis C. (Bessie) Newbern II, Paducah, Ky.; stepfather, Felix Reynolds, Mayfield, Ky.; one brother, Brian Neal, Decatur, IL.; one stepbrother, Rodney Clemons, Davenport, IA.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Calvin R. Cole Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at the church.
