Betty Jean McGehee, age 83, of Murray, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016, 6:37 a.m., at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

She was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.

She attended the former Douglas High School, West Kentucky Vocational School where she was certified in Business Administration and Murray State University where she studied Early Childhood Development. She was a member of Virgin Chapter #55 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as secretary.

She is survived by seven nephews, James "Jimmy" Murray, Brad , Jessie Larry, Amon, Jr. of Detroit, MI, Victor of Murray, Dasol of Carson, CA, Aaron of Valley Village, CA; four nieces, Denise , Ella , Maria, and Patricia all of Detroit MI, and Michelle Ellis whom she helped raise of Ann Arbor, MI.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Desiree McGehee and Ida Bell Perry; four brothers, Tasco McGeHee, Doyle McGehee, Junior McGehee, Amon McGehee and one nephew, Jim Ed McGehee.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016, 1:00 p.m., at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Kendrick and Dasol Mashaka officiating. Burial will follow in Murray City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Gifts of love and flowers may be left at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and again on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
