Bernice C. Holmes, age 87, of Paducah, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, 4:38 p.m., at Baptist Health Paducah.

Bernice was a member of the Church of the Living God where she was a member of the church choir, served as Trustee and on both the Mother's Board and the praise and worship team.  She was a graduate of the former Lincoln High School and retired as a sterilization tech from Western Baptist Hospital.

She is survived by two daughters , Brenda Gaines of Paducah and Mona Lisa (Joseph) Mullins of St. Marys, GA; eleven grandchildren , Veronica (Vem) Holmes of Stone Mountain , GA , Shawn Holmes , Paducah, KY , Terronnie (Tanya) Holmes, Cary, NC , Brenshae Gaines, Nashville, TN , Charita (Rudolph) Stone, Austin, TX , Lekeisha Mullins, Tampa, FL , Hamani Holmes, Indianapolis, IN , Aletha Coleman, Paducah, KY , Rodrick (Genevieve) Moore, Birmingham, AL , Latisha Dunbar and Anna Gaines, both of Paducah, KY; twenty-six great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren , and several cousins .

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hayes and Helen Oliver Hayes; her husband Earnest Holmes, Sr., one son, Earnest Holmes, Jr., one daughter, Latanya Holmes, one grandson, Kenyatte Mullins, and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2020, 12:00 noon at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home with Elder Elvin Woodruff and Reverend Joe Warren officiating.  Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may also call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
