IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernice C.
Hayes
December 8, 1946 – January 30, 2022
Bernice Clytee Harbour Hayes, the firstborn of Arnie and Lillia Brown Harbour, entered into this earthly life on December 8, 1946. Originally from Indianola, Mississippi, Bernice was the eldest of her parents' ten children. On Sunday, January 30, 2022, the Lord called her home to her final resting place.
Bernice accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age under the spiritual guidance of Reverend Kirkland, pastor of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Paducah, she was a faithful member and church mother at Rocky Ford Missionary Baptist until her health began to decline.
Bernice was a homemaker who loved to cook, clean and work in her yard. She dedicated her life to her family and helped raise two of her grandsons. Her love for family, gospel music and nature was nurtured through her interaction with family members, her flower garden and her favorite pet – dogs, of which she owned several throughout the years.
Bernice graduated from Gentry High School in 1965. At the tender age of 20, she met and married the love of her life, Franklin "Mose" Hayes. From that union five boys (Reggie, Rocky, Roney, Lester and Ramsey) were produced.
Preceding Bernice in death were her husband, Franklin Hayes, parents, Arnie and Lilla; one son, Reggie Hayes; one granddaughter, Shanett Hayes; two brothers, Reginald "Red" Harbour and Alvin Harbour; and two sisters, Sharon Harbour and Norma Ann Harbour.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memory four sons , Rocky Hayes of Mobile, AL, Roney (Justina)Hayes of Chatham, IL, Lester Hayes and Ramsey Hayes both of Paducah; four grandsons , Jermel Hayes, Shawn Hayes, Jonavan Herndon and Franklin Hayes; two granddaughters , Sheipa (Edmund) Allen and Makailee Hayes; two great-granddaughters, Reign Herndon and Harmonia Herndon; three brothers , Melvin Harbour, Carl Harbour and Earnest Harbour all of Indianola, MS; and one sister , Mary (Jerry) Bradley.
