Obituary

Annie Eva Ivery Walker, transitioned into the Heavenly Kingdom peacefully on July 29, 2026 at 3:00 a.m. at the blessed age of 96. She entered her eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter’s home in Houston, Texas.

Annie was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi the first daughter of Buford and Gladys Ivery. She later moved to Paducah, Kentucky in 1954 following her sister and brother-in-law Fannie and George Ross. Together the family help create the Mississippi Club House centered around community and family, keeping home close to heart for all family and friends from Mississippi.

For thirty years she worked for Dr. Ben Bradford taking care of his home and children as well as her own home. With her love for food and cooking, like her father she worked for Callie Mae Cobb in her catering business serving the community at special events. Her love for caring for others is when she retired, working for homecare and hospice as a sitter. She possessed a remarkable green thumb transforming any space into a garden and caring for plants.

It was in Paducah that Annie rooted her deep faith in God, finding a spiritual home at St. James Methodist Episcopal Church. She came in as a member and usher under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Charles Keller Henry and later used her gifts wherever it was needed. A natural story teller even up to her last breath, she captivated the attention of those around her with her wit and wisdom. Above all she lived her life loving her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Walker, Jr., her parents, Buford and Gladys Ivery, her daughter, Annie Rae Walker Jones, her brothers, Charlie and Oreese Ivery, two sisters, Fannie Mae Ross and Mary Alice Jones, her granddaughter, Yolanda Holland and nephew Darel Ivery.

Her legacy of faith in God, love for her family and friends, storytelling and helping others will live on through her surviving family members, Her children, Thomas Lee Walker, Jr. of Detroit, MI, Bruce Edward Walker of Paducah, KY, Jerry (Patricia “Pat”) Walker of Detroit, MI, Tracey Walker (James) Hurd of Houston, TX and Donald (Diane) Ivery of Toledo, OH; ten grandchildren, Christie (Eugene) Holts, Anthony Walker, Tommekia Walker, Brian Walker, James Hurd III, Alice Chloe Hurd, Casey Walker and Miya Jacquelyn Shay Hurd and Robert Bell; twelve great-grandchildren, Dominique Walker, Brian Walker Jr., Tye Holland, Kahlia Walker, Brynden Millet, Jeremy Lowe, Braydon Walker, Gianna Walker, Prince Hurd, Bronz Reeves, Lyndsey Walker and Aria Walker.

Annie Eva Ivery Walker, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
