Obituary

Anita Mae Noah Glore Anita Mae Noah Glore was born December 26, 1935, to Marjorie Robinson Noah and Meothard Grant Noah in Paducah, Kentucky. Anita joined the Church Triumphant Sunday May 15, 2022, in Gahanna, Ohio with her family by her side.

Affectionately known as "Dude" by family and friends, Anita accepted Christ at an early age at Burkes Chapel AME Church, Paducah, KY. She served on the Stewardess Board, Senior Choir and Willing Workers. Anita played piano for several churches in the Paducah area. When she moved to Cleveland, Ohio she joined Quinn Chapel AME Church. Upon moving to Columbus, Ohio she became an active member of St. John AME Church, Worthington, Ohio. At St. John, Anita was a member of the Juanita R. Jones Missionary Society and the Stewardess Board. In 2000, Anita was a member of the Third Episcopal District Choir that performed at the 2000 General Conference of African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. On December 5, 2010, Anita Mae Noah Glore was consecrated a Deaconess in the African Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop C. Garnett Henning, Sr.

Anita was an educator. In 1953, along with three other young African American students, Anita enrolled in Paducah Junior College. They became the first African Americans to attend the college which desegregated the institution. Anita went on to attend Murray State University where she obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Anita taught elementary Education in Paducah Public Schools; Adult Education in Haiti, Missouri; and Elementary Education in the Cleveland Ohio Public Schools. She retired from teaching in 1997. Anita was a Golden Soror in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She was initiated in Beta Omega Omega Chapter in Paducah, KY. She was also a member of Alpha Omega Chapter in Cleveland, OH.

Anita Mae Noah was married to James Alvin Glore, Sr. (deceased). To this union five children were born: Philippa Melissa Glore Houston, Gahanna, OH; James A. Glore, Jr. (Cynthia), Bowling Green, KY; Cheryl Melinda Glore Goodwin (Tyrone), Bryans Road, MD; Judy Loretta Glore Callaway, Louisville, KY; and Julie Bernice Glore Stone, Columbus, OH. She is survived by her brother John Philip Noah (Josephine), Cleveland, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband James A. Glore, Sr.; parents Marjorie and Meothard Noah; sister Loretta Noah Laney; brothers Joseph Noah, Raymond Noah Sr., and Leon Grant Noah. Left to cherish her memory are 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. Special lifelong friends are Joyce and Thomas Biles, Mrs. Frances Williams, and Dr. Corine Glore.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022, 12:00 NOON, at the Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
